Understanding and Celebrating Diverse Minds

I’m a born and raised Calgarian, and love this beautiful city my family and I call home. I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. I have extensive experience offering assessment and counselling to children, teens, and adults with diverse abilities and complex needs within multiple settings including Alberta Health Services, Alberta Education, and the community. I enjoy family bike rides along the river, cheering my kids at their extracurricular activities, and family fun at the Farmyard, Calgary Zoo, and Calaway Park. I love the mountains and my heart is happiest at Lake Windermere.

I have 2 amazing children who are divergent thinkers and learners. I understand, and have experienced firsthand, the worry that comes with watching your child struggle. I have felt the frustration and disappointment that comes from trying to access support in healthcare, and education systems that often seem broken and don’t accommodate individual differences very well. I have felt the fear that these systems will break my children’s beautiful little spirits and the worry that they are inadvertently fostering feelings of shame and blame for my children by seeing ‘disorders’ rather than ‘differences’. I wholeheartedly believe that DIFFERENCES don’t mean less! Differences don’t need to be “fixed”, but rather embraced and supported with compassion and love. We all have different strengths and assets to contribute to the world. As Temple Grandin said, “The world needs all kinds of minds.”

My mission is to empower parents with the knowledge, emotional support, and resources they need to help their families thrive. People do well if they can! Everyone, both young and old, strives for success and connection. Sometimes, we need a little help understanding the obstacles standing in our way. My goal is to support parents in gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and their children while providing them with concrete steps, resources and tools, and the confidence to advocate for their family.
